ISLAMABAD: Newly reappointed Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb said on Friday that the allegations hurled by Ayesha Gulalai should be investigated. She added that the women parliamentary caucus will also play its role in the matter.
Aurangzeb was talking to PTV News after taking oath at the President House.
Responding to a question about Gulalai â the former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader who accused PTI Chairman Imran Khan of sending her inappropriate messages â the minister regretted that politics is being played on the issue. She said Islam gives great respect to women.
Aurangzeb said those using social media must exercise their freedom of expression with utmost responsibility and avoid mudslinging and personal attacks.
The minister said the government will fulfil the unfinished agenda of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.
She said the way the former prime minister served the people in his three tenures has no precedence in history. "This is the reason that Nawaz Sharif lives in hearts of the people," she said.
The minister urged the opposition to play their role to strengthen the federation, saying the opposition parties have governments in the provinces and they should also contribute to the development of the country.
Aurangzeb stressed that she will continue to work for the welfare and training of journalists.
