KARACHI: Even after thirteen hours, the fire that erupted in the Landhi industrial area of the metropolis on Friday afternoon could not be extinguished.
According to fire brigade officials, two fire tenders and one water bowser are taking part in the fire-fighting operation at the factory.
No loss of life has been reported as of yet. There was reportedly no labourer inside the factory at the time of the incident.
Police reached the site after the fire erupted.
To extinguish the fire, all the fire tenders from the city were called to the site of the incident.
The fire has reached the third-floor of the factory.
The fire surrounded the entire factory, while efforts are underway to douse the fire.
People trying to stand near the factory are being asked to stand aside as there are cracks in the factory's walls and there is a fear of walls crumbling down.
There are around 12 fire tenders, which are running out of water. Private water tankers have been called to help the fire tenders.
According to Director KMC Masood Alam, the fire was reported at 2:35 PM. He said that the fire brigade vehicles reached the site late due to traffic.
Due to the intensity of the fire, fire brigade officials cannot enter the building.
A wall gave away on the third floor of the factory due to the intensity of the fire.
On December 8, 12 people were killed and more than 110 injured in a blaze in a private hotel at Shahrah-e-Faisal. According to hotel sources, the fire broke out at 3AM in the kitchen located in the basement of the hotel and travelled through the air conditioning ducts, engulfing a major part of the hotel in flames.
